People read The Times-Picayune, and advertising in the newspaper influences their shopping habits. Fifty-nine percent of adults identify newspapers as the medium they use for planning, shopping and purchase decisions. More than 80 percent of newspaper readers took some form of action as a result of a print newspaper ad in the past 30 days, and half of those purchased something advertised. Newspaper advertising also impacts Internet shopping. Nearly 40 percent of newspaper readers followed up on a print ad in some form.1
