It’s that time of the year again! The Times-Picayune is gearing up for its 122nd annual Doll & Toy Fund event.
Since 1896, needy children in New Orleans have relied on The Times-Picayune Doll and Toy Fund to bring them holiday cheer. As in past years, children under 12 can come to the event and are guaranteed to leave with a free toy. Each child also will receive a snack bag of cookies or crackers and fruit and school supplies.
This year’s gift-giving distribution will be held Saturday, Dec. 16, 2017 at Xavier University Convocation Center, 7900 Stroelitz St., New Orleans.
More than 5,000 children representing our diverse community will attend, and for many it will be their only Christmas celebration.
But there is so much more work to be done to make this year’s distribution successful. Our volunteers stand ready, but we need your help.
The Doll & Toy Fund is supported entirely through public donations. We need to raise more than $100,000 to fund this year’s toy distribution and bring cheer to thousands of children and their families. 100% of your donation is used to purchase and distribute new toys to children in need.
Please donate $10, $100 or as much as you can. Any contribution helps, and donations are tax deductible.
